Luz Maria Utrera

Luz Maria Utrera is the President and the Founder of the Luz Maria Foundation an organization dedicated to helping women who experienced domestic violence and women in need in the US, Argentina and around the world. She is also a founder and President of Fundación Luz María in her hometown of Santiago del Estero, Argentina. Throughout the years, the Foundation has received help from donors, sponsors, and government grants. Her experience includes support and advocacy for survivors of domestic violence. She was a lawyer for an NGO, which deals with matters of domestic violence while creating the Foundation. She signed an agreement with National University and with other NGOs in Santiago del Estero. She was invited by the local Human Rights Office to speak on issues concerning domestic violence in various institutions in both her city and the United States. Fundación Luz Maria just received Consultative Status with United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). That status allows Luz María to participate in conferences at the international level and partner and connect with different organizations around the world. The Foundation also received Department of Public Information Association (DPI). She is a part of The World We Want, Policy Strategy Group at the United Nations and United Nations Inter-Agency Network on Youth. Luz Maria was recently chosen from 5,000 applicants from around the world to serve as a UN Women Champion for Change. She was also a Power Women in Business Honoree at the Hilton Hotel and a Global Community innovator Honoree at Battery Garden.

 

Luz Maria has a license as attorney of law in Argentina. She took a specialized course in International Law of Human Rights. She recently attended a workshop at Yale University and a Domestic Violence and the Law seminar at Columbia University Law School as well training courses at the Foundation Center. 

Bernice Keshet

Ms. Keshet is currently a candidate for a masters degree in social work from Columbia University. Focusing on International Social Welfare within her program of study, Bernice is deeply interested in both issues of human rights and community organizing around progressive issues in the US and her native country of Israel. She has worked with various community-based organizations such as Organizing for Action, The Jewish Community Relations Council of New York, Upbeat NYC and Physicians for Human Rights-Israel. She holds a bachelor's degree from Tel Aviv University in psychology and the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, majoring in cello performance.

Joseph Robertson

is Global Strategy Director for the non-partisan non-profit Citizens' Climate Lobby and leads CCL's Pathway to Paris coalition-building and global citizen-engagement project: PathwaytoParis.org. He is founder and president of Geoversiv.net, advisor to the United Nations' NGO Committee on Sustainable Development, a member of the Policy and Strategy Group for the World We Want, and CCL's representative in the Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition. Joseph is a founding emeritus faculty member of the Villanova University Center for Energy and Environment Education, and editor-in-chief of the Spanish-language eco-economics and sustainability publication FuturismoVerde.net. His blog is PoetEconomist.com.

Thi Thai Hang

Thi Thai Hang Nguyen is the Secretary General of the Diplomatic Council (DC), a global think tank in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. The Diplomatic Council was established to serve as a bridge between diplomacy, business and society with the objective to encourage international understanding and promote peace. The DC is represented by diplomats and driven by leaders from business, society and all areas of life.  

 

Thi Thai Hang Nguyen co-founded the Diplomatic Council in 2011. In her position as the Secretary General, she has performed hundreds of public appearances for the DC, delivered key speeches and moderated DC and partner events. She has been working with international non-profit associations focusing on humanitarian and social projects such as protecting especially children’s and women’s rights. Being a refugee child herself who escaped the Vietnam War, the welfare of children and women is important to her. She has initiated the Diplomatic Council Global Funding Program to provide a crowdfunding platform to collect donations for charitable projects.

 

Before co-founding the Diplomatic Council, Thi Thai Hang Nguyen was employed in global companies where she assisted management and board members.
